Everything is ready for Crimson Desert: See what you'll find in the game

In this post you will find details about the launch of Crimson Desertwith a strong narrative and advanced technologiesDiscover how the game runs on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as the requirements for PC and Mac!

The release of Crimson Desert is scheduled for tomorrow, March 19th. After so much waiting, you'll finally be able to see up close everything that's been shown in trailers and presentations. Pearl Abyss's new project arrives with an ambitious proposal, combining a strong narrative, intense combat, and a world full of detail.

Right off the bat, the game's price is attention-grabbing: Crimson Desert will be sold for R$ 349.99 in digital stores. It will be available for PlayStation5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Mac, with versions adapted for each type of hardware. See more details below!

A story marked by conflict

The plot of Crimson Desert follows Kliff, leader of a mercenary group called Greymane. After an unexpected attack, the team members are separated, and Kliff must travel to different regions to find them again. Along the way, he becomes involved in an even greater threat, linked to the fate of the continent of Pywel.

There are political intrigues, battles between factions, and mysteries that are gradually revealed. The narrative focuses on more intense moments, but also makes room for more human situations, showing the weight of decisions and losses. During the confrontations, you directly control Kliff's every action

The attacks can be combined in varied sequences, creating dynamic and unpredictable fights. An interesting point is the possibility of learning moves by observing enemies. Each encounter can be different from the previous one, since the opponents' behavior changes according to the context.

Beyond the story, one of the technical highlights of Crimson Desert is the use of technologies like AMD FSR 3 and Upscale. Both improved performance without demanding too much from the hardware. The image is generated at a lower resolution and then adjusted to appear sharper.

This process isn't perfect, but it works well in most situations, mainly because everything is in motion. The gain in fluidity ends up being an important factor, since higher frame rates make the actions smoother. On the PS5 Pro, there's also the use of PSSR, a Sony-developed solution that works similarly.

How does the game run on consoles?

On major consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X, Crimson Desert features three graphical modes:

  1. Performance: focus on fluidity, with 60 FPS or more
  2. Balanced: a blend of high resolution and mid-range refresh rate
  3. Quality: prioritizes a more refined image, with 30 FPS

On the PS5 Pro, all options work with 4K, varying only in how the image is generated and the level of lighting effects. This model delivers more advanced results, especially in scenes with more complex light and shadow.

On the Xbox Series S, the situation changes slightly. The console runs the game with simpler settings, reaching 720p in Performance mode and 1080p in Quality mode. Even so, the essence of the adventure remains.

PC Requirements: What do I need to run the game?

To run Crimson Desert on a computer, you need an SSD with at least 150 GB of free space. This is already an important point, since the game is demanding.

In terms of minimum requirements, the game runs at 1080p with 30 FPS using upscaling, with processors such as the Intel Core i5-8500 or Ryzen 5 2600X, plus 16 GB of RAM and a graphics card like the GTX 1060. However, at higher configurations, the level increases significantly. For 4K at 60 FPS, more recent hardware will be needed, such as an AMD RTX 5070 Ti or equivalent, in addition to more modern processors.

And does it work well on a Mac?

Yes, but with some conditions. The game runs on Macs with an M2 Pro chip and 16 GB of memory. Performance varies depending on the model and operating system. With macOS Sequoia, the average is around 30 FPS. On macOS Tahoe, with additional frame interpolation technologies, it's possible to reach up to 60 FPS in some situations. In other words, it's playable, but the result depends heavily on the equipment you have.

Laptops are also on the list

The ROG Xbox Ally devices can also run Crimson Desert, albeit with limitations. The basic model focuses on 720p and 40 FPS, while the more powerful version offers more options and better performance.

If you enjoy action RPGs with a compelling storyline and the freedom to experiment with different combat styles, this is a title worth considering. Now it's just a matter of waiting a few hours to see how the game performs in practice.
