Fortnite returns to the App Store in Brazil; See how to download it

Fortnite is officially back on the App Store in Brazil and several other countries around the world. The news was confirmed by Epic Games this Tuesday (19), marking another chapter in the long legal dispute between the developer and Apple. The popular Battle Royale had been removed from the iPhone and iPad store in 2020, after the company responsible for the game added its own payment system within the application, contradicting Apple's rules on fees charged for purchases made on iOS.

The game's return comes shortly after the title reappeared on Android as well, reigniting the interest of millions of players who were waiting to be able to access Fortnite again on Apple devices without alternative methods or external installations. 

Fortnite returns to the App Store after years away from iOS

After nearly six years away from the App Store, Fortnite has officially returned to the Apple ecosystem. The game was removed in 2020 when Epic Games decided to implement its own payment system within the app. At the time, this allowed users to purchase V-Bucks without using Apple's official system, thus avoiding the fees charged by the company.

The decision resulted in the immediate removal of Battle Royale from the digital store. Since then, Apple and Epic Games have been engaged in a legal battle that has gained worldwide attention and raised debates about fees charged in app stores, developer freedom, and rules imposed by large technology companies.

Now, in 2026, Epic has confirmed that Fortnite can be downloaded again by iPhone and iPad users in virtually every country on the planet. Australia remains an exception for now, as the legal proceedings related to the case are still ongoing in the country.

Understand the reason for the dispute between Epic Games and Apple

The conflict between the two companies began when Epic Games questioned Apple's policies regarding in-app transactions on iOS. According to the guidelines from the company responsible for the iPhone, all digital purchases must use the official App Store system, which applies a commission to each transaction.

Epic Games disagreed with this policy and implemented its own alternative within Fortnite, offering players the possibility of making payments without going through Apple's platform. As a consequence, the game was removed from the digital store.

Since then, the case has gone through several stages in the US courts and has attracted the attention of regulatory bodies from various countries. According to a statement released by Epic Games, Apple itself informed the US Supreme Court that international authorities are closely monitoring the process to assess what fees can be charged in large markets outside of the United States.

The Fortnite developer stated that it believes in future changes related to the charges applied on iOS, especially after discussions involving practices considered abusive by the company that owns the App Store.

How do I download Fortnite on iPhone and iPad?

Now that Fortnite has officially returned to the App Store, the process for installing the game has become quite simple for Apple device users. Just access the App Store directly on your iPhone or iPad and search for the game's name in the search bar. After that, the player needs to tap the "Get" button and confirm the download using Face ID, Touch ID, or their Apple ID password. After installation, the Battle Royale can be launched normally on the device. 

In addition, another available option is to directly access the game's official page on the App Store through the address provided by Epic Games. The link takes the user directly to the app's download page on iOS.

Fortnite remains free on iOS

Just like on other platforms, Fortnite remains free to download on iPhone and iPad. The free-to-play model continues to be available as usual, allowing access to Battle Royale without any initial cost. Despite this, the game continues to sell cosmetic items, skins, dances, and season passes using V-Bucks, the official virtual currency used within the game.

Returning to iOS represents an important step for Epic Games, mainly due to the reach of Apple's platform in the global mobile device market.
